NetDocuments company was founded in 1999 as a cloud-based document management software (DMS) solution. It was ahead of its time to offer cloud-based software. NetDocuments currently has over 4300 customers and 400 employees. The software company is in Lehi Utah and has 11 data centers hosting the cloud-based software. Customers have over 10 billion files under management with NetDocuments. The company has ten plus compliance certifications, such as, FINRA, HIPAA, FIPS, ISO, SOC, GDPR, and more. NetDocuments maintain privacy through AES-256 and SSL-128 encryption for all digital assets.

In October 2022, NetDocuments Software Inc. announced that it had acquired Worldox.  Both companies offered document management solutions (DMS).  NetDocuments offered cloud-based document management solutions and Worldox had both a cloud-based solution and an on-premises DMS offering.

As more and more firms expressed their desire to move their software solutions to a cloud-based platform, it became clear that both NetDocuments and Worldox shared a common goal – to help their customers be proactive when adapting to future changes in the workplace by providing them a cutting-edge, cloud-based document management platform.

NetDocuments had stated in 2022 that they would continue to support Worldox clients and assist with migrating them to the NetDocuments platform at their own pace.  They have held true to this commitment.  While support has ended for Worldox cloud customers, support for Worldox on-premises customers has continued. However, it would be reasonable to expect support for Worldox on-premises customers to end in the near future.  (No dates have been announced as of this writing.)

Clients that use document management software experience improved searching for documents, version control, email management, predictive filing, optical character recognition to make document searches smarter by digitizing and indexing content, building sets of documents easily, artificial intelligence, comparison and summaries of documents, and more. For Those who use Windows File Explorer to find documents and setup manual folder and subfolder structures, NetDocuments is so much more robust.

Firms that have used Worldox as their DMS should consider NetDocuments among the top candidates for replacing it.  There are many practice management software solutions available that have a document management component, but most do not have the full functionality and robustness that NetDocuments offer.
