Three new domain name extensions have been approved by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers); .law, .lawyer, .attorney. These new extensions for law can only be registered by a certified attorney with a domain name registrant, such as, Register.com, Godaddy.com, etc.
Firms that have been unable to register their firm name with a .com extension due to no availability, now can register their firm name with a .law, .lawyer, and/or .attorney extension. So whether you want to use this opportunity to rebrand your internet presence or to play defense against “domain squatters,” you should consider reserving domain names with the .law extension that are relevant for your firm.
The estimated cost that has been listed by most registrants for a .law domain is $200/yr., plus a $10 registration fee.
